Mumbai, February 9, 2026: Cipla Limited (BSE: 500087; NSE: CIPLA; and hereafter referred to as "Cipla") today announced the launch of an illustrated rendition of the Cipla Story. Marking 90 years of Caring for Life, Cipla has collaborated with iconic Indian comic book author and publisher Amar Chitra Katha to launch The Cipla Story: A Legacy of Care. The special edition comic nostalgically traces Cipla’s journey across nine decades, presented in a storytelling-led format. The book will be accessible to readers on the Cipla website.
Narrated by Anil Sharma, a fictional retired Cipla employee, the comic traces the company’s legacy through stories he shares with his grandchildren, Ria and Adi. Their conversations take readers back to 1935, when Dr. Khwaja Abdul Hamied founded Cipla, inspired by the belief in scientific self-reliance and self-sufficiency.
Through vivid illustrations, the comic traces Cipla’s journey across defining moments, from supporting India’s self-reliance in medicines to widening global access to HIV/AIDS treatment at a time when affordability was out of reach for many. It reflects the company’s deep roots in respiratory care, its evolution into a global presence across 74 markets, and a philosophy of care that extends beyond medicine, including initiatives such as the Cipla Palliative Care & Training Centre. More than a chronicle of achievements, the book celebrates empathy, resilience, and the enduring purpose that continues to guide the organisation at 90 and beyond.
